The Revelation of Jesus Christ
Revelation is the final and apocalyptic book of the Bible that provides a magnificent vision of the ultimate triumph of Jesus Christ over the forces of evil. It uses vivid and mysterious imagery to encourage a persecuted Church and to reveal the sovereignty of God over the course of human history. We see the Lamb who was slain receiving honor and glory and power as the true King of kings and Lord of lords. This book teaches us that despite the appearances of the present moment, the final victory belongs to the Almighty.
The narrative traces the cosmic struggle between the kingdom of God and the powers of the world and culminates in the coming of the new heaven and the new earth. We witness the descent of the New Jerusalem where there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain and where God will dwell among His people. The book concludes with the urgent and hopeful prayer for the return of the Savior which is the constant cry of the heart of the Bride, the Church. Revelation invites us to live with an eternal perspective and to remain faithful to the end.
